Runtime requirements
Required and optional capabilities
Section titled “Required and optional capabilities”The reviewed Server manifest requires PHP CLI >=8.1 and ext-json. This is the package constraint, not a promise that every PHP version/backend combination has been tested.
| Capability | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Multi-process supervision on Unix | pcntl; posix for Unix process/user operations |
| Single-process fallback | Used without pcntl; does not provide the same supervision/control features |
| TLS | An appropriate OpenSSL-enabled PHP build and certificate configuration |
| Native loop backends | event, ev, Swoole or Swow are optional; inspect the chosen backend |
| Fiber loop | Optional revolt/event-loop and a compatible context; plain sleep is not automatically asynchronous |
| External session storage | Install the Redis/MongoDB driver required by the selected handler |
Linux is the primary deployment target for the multi-process model. macOS is a separate Unix platform, not Linux. On Windows, verify the single-process path and avoid assuming Unix signals or daemon control work.
php -vphp --iniphp -mcomposer check-platform-reqscomposer show localzet/serverRun these with the same PHP CLI executable and configuration as the service. A working FPM configuration does not prove CLI extensions exist. Test the complete recipes before adding your own handlers. Do not pipe an unreviewed remote environment-check script directly into PHP.
