Relay nodes
A relay is a stable KnotRoute node that contributes routing capacity and path diversity.
Listen and advertise
Section titled “Listen and advertise”{ "listen": ["0.0.0.0:7447"], "advertise": ["relay.example.net:7447"]}Advertise only endpoints other peers can actually reach.
Firewall
Section titled “Firewall”A public relay generally needs inbound 7447/tcp. Dashboard and local proxies should remain loopback-only.
An outbound-only node can still participate as a client, but it should not advertise an unreachable private or loopback address as a public relay.
Upgrades
Section titled “Upgrades”Use rolling upgrades for backbone nodes and confirm rejoin plus an external .knot request before moving to the next relay.
