Service identity and migration
A published service’s canonical .knot address is derived from its private service identity, not from the host IP or node identity.
Migration
Section titled “Migration”- Back up the service identity and configuration.
- Stop the old publisher.
- Transfer the identity securely to the new host.
- Change the local target as needed.
- Start the new publisher.
- Confirm the same canonical address in logs.
- Test remotely from another client.
Avoid accidentally running unrelated publishers with copies of the same private service key.
Key compromise
Section titled “Key compromise”Current v3 has no global service-key revocation registry. If the key is compromised, create a new identity and distribute the replacement canonical address through a trusted channel.
